New Year’s Eve Dance

Dec 31, 2024 at Lions & Sun Bar & Grill, Sharon

A crowd of about 100 joined us and the staff at the Lions & Sun Bar & Grill for a New Year’s Eve dinner and dance. We played three full sets starting at 8:30 and ending up after Champaign and “Auld Lang Syne” about 12:30. There were many spot dances and door prizes throughout the evening. We saw a lot of old friends and met a number of new ones. Everybody loved the music and the dance floor was packed most of the night. Ed’s wife Cath took a lot of pictures which we share below and two videos which we put on the video page (past dances). Everyone had a great time and we received a lot of very positive feedback on the music. I think we may do this again.

Music in the Streets

June 22, 2024 at Georgina Pioneer Village

There was a great turnout to the annual Music in the Streets festival hosted by Connor’s Music. The weather held off for most of the day. The venue included performances by a host of Connors Music students and their teachers and a number of local bands including the Connors Brothers and Flashback. Just as we started our set, the rain began to fall, but the audience stuck with us through the pouring rain and enjoyed the show. Lots of positive feedback and lots of fun. What a great venue. This was a ticketed event and we SOLD OUT! Standing room only. A lot of friends showed up and the dance floor, once again, was full all evening.

FlashBack had the honor of performing for the first concert at the revitalized parkette. Rob was unable to attend that day due to a medical emergency, however, Jeff’s nephew was able to fill in on bass.

The Painted Perch Festival

FlashBack played to a great audience attending the Painted Perch Festival at Jackson’s Point. Lots of kids and lots of food - especially ice cream. It was a beautiful day up to the moment we left the stage - then we were hit with a wicked summer storm. Great day just the same, Rob celebrated his 75th birthday on stage.

Nogies Creek, July 29, 2023

July 29, 2023 was a great day for the Van Exan family gathering at Nogies Creek, just outside of Bobcaygeon. The weather threatened until about 3:00pm when the band started playing. As you can see below - everyone had a great time. Press the link button below to view a video of the day.

Briar Hill, Alliston, August 21, 2021

Great to be playing again! This was our third appearance after COVID-19. It was an outdoor concert - still living with some restrictions from COVID-19 which limit the size of the crowd but as you can see - everyone who attended had a great time.

Georgina - Rock the Waves August 10, 2021

FlashBack appeared at the Lake Simcoe “on the water” concert “Rock the Waves”. We performed a 1 hour set on the water in front of boaters, cottagers, sea dos, paddle boards and canoes. We were followed by Bernadette Connors who performed many of her newest numbers and later the Connors Brothers band who ended the evening. What a great time and what a great event. We hope that this becomes an annual. Next year we will bring our bathing suits.

Hearts for Hospice Valenine’s Dance & Fundraiser, February 15, 2020

FlashBack performed at the “Hearts for Hospice” Fundraiser and Valentine’s Dance at Briar Hill Community Centre in Alliston. The event was in support of Matthew House Hospice in Alliston and attracted a large number of Matthew House supporters as well as FlashBack followers from the area. The band introduced a few new numbers into the usual solid list of rock hits and dance tunes including Lady Marmalade (Patti Labelle), Role With It (Spencer Davis), Taken’ Care of Business (BTO), and Pretty Woman (Roy Orbison). Judging by the packed dance floor and the positive comments from the crowd, the music went over well and the quality of the sound was great.

Richmond Hill Senior’s Halloween Dance, October 28, 2019

This year FlashBack decided to dress up a little for Halloween and the seniors of Richmond Hill really had a great time listening and dancing to the oldies including a few Halloween classics like “the Monster Mash”, “Spooky” and “Love Potion Number 9”. Along with the usual rock & roll standards, we introduced a few old jazz standards from the 20s and 30s like “It had to be You” and “Till there was You” but I must say, everyone sang along to “Sweet Caroline” and everyone got on the dance floor to join Ed in “Mustang Sally”.

Bobcaygeon Cruise Fest - September 14, 2019

Once again, FlashBack performed at the annual Caygeon Cruisers Car show and fund raiser in support of local area food banks and school lunch programs. It was a cold blustery day and at times we thought we would be blown off the stage, but we had a great crowd, lots of great cars and everyone had a great time. Our 50s, 60s, 70s music brought back a lot of memories for visitors to the show and fit in perfectly with the vintage cars - many of them form that era. The Caygeon Cruisers raised about $9,000 for the local Bobcaygeon and Dunsford food banks and feedback on the music was very positive - not only from the show but also from people who could hear us while wandering around town. We are glad to contribute to such a good cause.

Nogies Creek Yacht Club Summer Sizzler - Aug 31, 2019

Another great day at Nogies Creek for the annual Summer Sizzler. We love this event because we get to play what we like and everyone has a great time. The crowd was a bit smaller this year, perhaps because of the cooler weather, but the band shell was perfect for the band and we got some people dancing on the beach. Our afternoon was topped off with a fabulous spread - roast beef, turkey corn, lots of salads and deserts. We have a couple of short video clips for you to catch the atmosphere.

Sutton Fair and Horse Show

We had a great time at the Sutton Fair and Horse Show on Saturday August 10, 2019. There were many great bands, and lots of different genres of music at the entertainment & beer tent during the coarse of the show and FlashBack did not disappoint with their contribution of good old 50s, 60s, 70,s rock & roll. Paul’s daughter, Bernadette, posted the video clip below.

Spring into Summer at Briar Hill - May 25, 2019

We had a little smaller crowd this time but everyone who came had a great time. The action on the dance floor tells the story. People were doing every kind of dance conceivable - the twist, the monkey, jive, swing, even the foxtrot made an appearance. We saw the conga line weave its way through the dance floor and a good old circle dance over in one corner. The Vistas Sistas joined us on stage for some of the numbers. The band, as usual, had a great time. John did a nice job on his lead in Something and everyone loved Summertime. Overall, we had a lot of positive feedback:

St Patrick’s Dance at Briar Hill - March 16, 2019

Wasn’t that a party? We had about 150 revelers and the dance floor was packed all night long. The Vistas Sistas jointed us to help out with back-up vocals and the band was in great form. Every dance imaginable went down on the dance floor - the twist, the monkey, fast ones, slow ones and even few Irish tunes to round out a great evening of Good Old Rock & Roll.

Richmond Hill - December 20, 2018

A great evening at the Richmond Hill Senior’s Christmas Dance. We had about 80 people attend an evening of Rock & Roll, a few Christmas tunes and a lot of Christmas spirit. Great to see people having fun and dancing the night away. As usual - those that couldn’t dance, helped us out by singing along and clapping out the beat with their hands. Briar Hill - Alliston- October 20, 2018

This was a great dance with over 150 people in attendance. We had a lot of fun and the dance floor was full all evening long. We didn’t get many pictures for the gallery but I included one video to give you an idea of the fun.

Connors Music 40th Anniversary

Connors Music celebrated their 40th anniversary at the store in Keswick. The outdoor stage provided musical entertainment all day long featuring past and present students, guests (including FlashBack and the Connors Family (3 generations on stage together), The Connors Brothers, and Bernadette Connors.

Cruise Fest - Bobcaygeon - Sept 15, 2018

FlashBack provided music and entertainment at the Bobcaygeon Cruise Fest Sept 15, 2018. The event was organized by the Caygeon Cruisers car club to raise $3,500 for the Bobcaygeon and Dunsford Food Banks.

Nogies Creek Labor Day Festival - Sept 1, 2018

This year was the second annual Nogies Creek Labour Day “September Sizzle” put on by the members of Nogies Creek Yacht Club. Preparation for the event started in August (top right) with the erection of a new outdoor stage and ended the day of … with the preparation of the roasts (supervised by canine residents - Hugo and Lucy). About eighty guests were invited to the afternoon event which featured the music of “FlashBack”. It was a sunny afternoon of music, dancing mixed with friendship and chat. Everyone had a great time - especially the band.
