This song was written by Cindy Walker and first recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1955. Since then, it has been recorded by over 60 artists including Elvis, Ray Charles, Rick Nelson, Willie Nelson, Diana Krall and Michael Bubble. It has found its way into so many genres it is hare to define. We like to think of our version as having a 1930s or 1940s "Lounge Lizard" jazz feel to it. Hope you like it

Moondance

By Van Morrison

This is a great tune originally done by Van Morrison in 1970. One music critic described Moondance as "one of those rare songs that manages to implant itself on the collective consciousness of popular music, passing into the hallowed territory of a standard, a classic."

It has become a FlashBack favorite due to the soft jazz swing feel to it and the fabulous walking base line created by John Klingburg in the original song. Hope you like our version and the video we put together based on images of dance intertwined with the lore of Irish "Moon Fairies". Lots of fun for us while we are waiting out COVID-19.

Mustang Sally

by Wilson Picket

Mustang Sally was originally recorded by Mack Rice in 1965 but was made popular by Wilson Picket in 1966. Many versions have since been recorded. FlashBack's arrangement is designed for the dance floor - a touch faster than the classic Motown version by Wilson Picket or the heavy blues version by the Commitments. This is probably the most popular song we play as a Dance Band and it gets everyone dancing and singing. Ed Cotton is known to leave the stage during a performance and get down with the audience while singing lead vocals and playing guitar.

Moon Glow

BY FlashBack

Moon Glow is a 1933 popular song. The music was by Will Hudson and Irving Mills and the words were by Eddie DeLange.  Originally it was written as the theme song for Hudson’s big band that played at the Greystone Ballrooom in Detroit.

This song is popular with many of the seniors who attend our dances.  It is basically a fox trot but you can do just about anything to it.  We tend to play it in a slow, swing style.

Route 66

BY FlashBack

"(Get Your Kicks on) Route 66" is a popular rhythm and blues standard, composed in 1946 by American songwriter Bobby Troup. The song uses a twelve-bar blues arrangement and the lyrics follow the path of U.S. Route 66 (US 66), which traversed the western two-thirds of the U.S. from Chicago, Illinois, to Los Angeles, California.

Recorded by many artists including Nat King Cole, Bing Crosby, Chuck Berry, the Rolling Stones, Manhattan Transfer, Depeche Mode, John Mayer and George Benson.

This was one of the first tunes we recorded

Stormy Monday

BY FlashBack

This song was originally written and recorded by T-bone Walker and became a hit in 1948. Its full name is “They Call It Stormy Monday (But Tuesday is Just as Bad)”. This is a song we all love to play - a great 12 bar blues piece which has been recorded by many artists. The version we have recorded here is based on the Allman Brothers extended version from their first live album in 1971. Hope you like it.
